Christmas will be bittersweet for Doctor Who fans.
Narrated by actor Colin McFarlane (The Dark Knight, Doctor Who), the Farewell show will feature archive footage and interviews, looking back at Capaldi's era as the Twelfth Doctor - from his very first script read through to his very last.
Plus? It's the last episode overseen by executive producer Steven Moffat who, in the course of the show's production, handed off the series to new showrunner Chris Chibnall, so he could be on hand for the Capaldi-to-Whittaker regeneration.
Peter Capaldi will uphold that tradition and say goodbye to the role of the Doctor in this year's Christmas special, Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time.
Ahead of the big regeneration episode, the BBC has released a new teaser, showing Peter Capaldi and David Bradley's Doctors coming face to face.
Twice Upon A Time will also feature an appearance from the "Enchanted Glass People", who steal their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor's story.
Instead, we see the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) meeting The First Doctor, played by "The Strain" star David Bradley. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning.
