A case of murder has been registered at Santacruz police station and police would be able to provide more information after the post-mortem.
Mumbai police on Thursday arrested a 38-year-old autorickshaw driver for killing his wife, whose body was found in Juhu earlier.
According to a senior police official, the deceased had injuries on her head and back.
Shakuntala's body washed ashore on Santacruz chowpatty on Wednesday morning. The police then made enquires in Santacruz, Juhu and Versova, asking for the home of the tattooed woman. The police have also found a tattoo, which looks like an angel, which they believe could help in identifying her. In order to be doubly sure, a team of police officers went to Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh to cross-verify her identity with her family.
He entered the house through ventilator hole and in a fit of rage hit Shakuntala with a blunt object which killed her.
