Meghan McCain knocks Bannon: 'Who the hell are you' to criticize Romney?

President Trump stopped to speak to reporters as he left the White House Monday for Utah.

Conway didn't say whether that was addressed.

But whatever the short-term strategic benefits might be for Moore, Bannon's move is a curious one when it comes to his 2018 aspirations and President Trump's interests. "There's a lot of rumors Mitt Romney is going to end up running for Senate in Utah if Orrin Hatch steps down". One of the women says that Moore improperly touched her and forced her to touch his genitals. He worked on behalf of Moore during the primary campaign against the establishment-picked Luther Strange and helped him win by almost ten points.

The president is said to be angling to keep Romney out of the U.S. Senate.

In a curious twist, just as his former political adviser was slamming Romney, Trump was on the phone with the 2012 GOP presidential nominee.

Romney, a Mormon with roots in the state who previously served as the governor of MA, has been mulling a run for Hatch's seat, if Hatch indeed announces his retirement.

According to a report in Politico, while Trump sees Hatch as loyal, he may be even more motivated by his animus for Romney.

If Hatch stays in the Senate, he'll likely continue to be a strong ally for the president. Jeff Flake for only writing a $100 check to Jones.

Then he lit into Romney and his behavior during the Vietnam War.

'He's playing the American public for suckers: he gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat, ' Romney said. Mitch McConnell was actively exploring a write-in candidate, and Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. John Kasich - but suggested to Republican voters that they vote in their state for who would do the most damage to thwart Trump's march to the nomination.

They ate it up, oblivious to the fact they'd become a backdrop for sucker punches Bannon decided he'd throw at Mitt Romney.

The question was whether Trump's overtures were serious or if the president-elect was making Romney dance to simply, eventually embarrass him.

After highly-publicized meetings at Bedminster and then in New York, Trump called Romney to tell him he'd chose to go with ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson instead.

It was unclear whether Trump and Romney discussed the Utah or Alabama Senate seats.

Earlier this week, Romney tweeted against Moore and in support of women like Leigh Corfman.

Roy Moore is an outsider in deep red Alabama and the definition of a social instigator, the kind of candidate Bannon can sink his teeth into. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes.

McCain said she believes Bannon attacked Romney's service because he is "threatened" by Romney's floated candidacy to replace Sen. Backing the Moore campaign is a risk for Bannon as well as for his former boss, President Donald Trump, who chose to throw his support behind the Alabama judge Monday (Dec. 4).

That is why Bannon and Trump are petrified that Romney is eyeing a Senate seat in Utah. "What's fascinating about this is, Steve Bannon is so threatened by Mitt Romney right now".
