A Winter Storm Watch been posted for all of Western New York, except Allegany County for Wednesday into Thursday. That lasts through Friday morning.
A blast of Arctic air expected to arrive Wednesday could generate a long-lasting lake effect snow storm that could dump up to 2 feet of snow in some areas, the National Weather Service said. Visibility could be poor at times and roads could be snow-covered and slippery.
Places hardest hit by the snow could see somewhere between 10 to 18 inches throughout the period. Outside of the lake effect, the weather looks quiet behind the cold front. Travel may be very hard at times, including during the morning and evening commute on Wednesday.
Snow showers will continue off and on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
