Kristaps Porzingis left, didn't return to Nets game with knee soreness

Kristaps Porzingis left, didn't return to Nets game with knee soreness

In beating Atlanta, the Knicks almost squandered a nine-point lead in the final 2:22, while on Tuesday night they let the Lakers score the final five points of regulation before winning in overtime. The question now is whether they are going to have to do it without Kristaps Porzingis.

"I'm walking around. I should have some bad pain right now, but I'm not". I'm standing. It's just them being cautious.

"He said shoot more contested shots, " Lee said.

Porzingis suffered the injury early in the third quarter. The Nets outscored the Wizards 52-47 in the second half.

This has been Porzingis' best season yet, averaging 26 points on 46.4 percent shooting for the Knicks. "When I'm confident and ready to go, then we'll see". Most of the issues have been minor, and Porzingis adopted a different approach to his health this season by resting instead of risking.

While New York may have the momentum following a 107-86 win over Brooklyn on October 27, victory will be far from guaranteed in hostile territory. He only missed two subsequent games.

"Especially this year every team is super physical and trying to play hard defense against me", Porzingis said. "I felt my knee just kind of buckle maybe a little bit and I felt a little pain there", the 22-year-old from Latvia said. "If he's not feeling great, let's not make it any worse". "I'm not giving myself no deadline", Hardaway said before the game. The question is whether they also will be without Porzingis. "I know I can get to the basket and make a play".

The Nets (11-16) simply had no answer for the Latvian as they fell in an 18-point deficit, so they pounced immediately after he went to the locker room - staging an 18-8 run to take their first lead since three minutes into the game.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (14-13): Guard Frank Ntilikna had another solid all-around effort Tuesday opposite fellow rookie Lonzo Ball while finishing with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists off the bench, and he has made 6-of-9 3-pointers over a three-game span.

While it was just across town in Brooklyn, it was a much needed away win for the Knicks - just their second of the season.
