And yet now, with the news that Elle Fanning is in talks to play the infamous heiress (which the Tracking Board has confirmed), Mangold has committed to making Fox 2000's Untitled Patty Hearst Project his next movie. From that point forward, she was a counter-culture symbol, and began participating in armed bank robberies. The screenplay has been written by Larry Karaszewski, Scott Alexander and Mangold, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Mangold will produce the film along with Nina Jacobsen and Brad Simpson of Colorforce.
One only assumes that the script for Girl With a Gun is incredible, as Mangold could've picked any project he wanted to follow up Logan with (due to its box office now standing at $616 million worldwide). And besides, this Patty Hearst project would all depend on "the girl". Only 19-years-old when she was kidnapped by the 20-member Symbionese Liberation Army, she was kept in isolation and threatened with death but eventually became persuaded to support their cause. And despite being the granddaughter of conservative media mogul William Randolph Hearst (the inspiration for Citizen Kane), she was arrested 19 months after her own kidnapping following the commitment of crimes alongside the group.
Fanning is one of the movie business's top rising stars, having appeared in "20th Century Women", "The Beguiled", and "The Neon Demon".
The logline for the movie is that it "traces the audacious, kaleidoscopic and psychologically twisted story of a true-life Alice in Wonderland".
