Driver hit 4 in New York City, killing 1

A auto has rammed into a crowd in the Queens area of New York City around 4:45 a.m., killing at least one and injuring three people, the AP news agency reports.

A New York Police Department detective said the driver targeted the victims in Queens, the AP reported. WABC reports the driver, who originally fled the scene, is now in custody and being questioned by police. "The vehicle was going really fast, at least 50 miles per hour on the sidewalk", a witness identified as Rogers told NY Daily News. The injured people were hospitalized, the AP reported. He said he saw a woman yelling "stop" as she tried to hold back someone fighting on the scene, before the vehicle rammed into the whole group.

They say the crash was not believed to be terrorism related.
