Deputies: Man arrested for trying to electrocute pregnant wife

A Florida man is in police custody after Flagler County Sheriff's deputies say he rigged the door of his wife's home to electrocute her according to WJXT-TV

"This is one of the most freakish domestic violence cases I have seen in my career".

Investigators say Michael Scott Wilson, 32, rigged the door in an attempt to cause great bodily harm to his estranged wife.

According to the arrest affidavit, Wilson and his wife were visiting family in Knoxville on Friday, Dec. 22, when Wilson disappeared.

Her stepfather also told deputies that he had checked on the house himself and found the word "HI" written in what he thought was lipstick with two eyes painted above the back sliding glass door.

Deputies said the front door appeared to be barricaded and noted burn marks near the door handle. A spark flew from the door when deputies kicked it in to enter the house.

The sheriff's office says it was apparent that the suspect rigged the door lock and lower door handle in an attempt to electrocute whomever attempted to open the door.

The father-in-law cited suspicious statements made by Wilson about not letting a child touch the front door as cause for the security check. In the kitchen were sonogram photos spread out on the countertop, the report said.

Court records indicate Ashley Lauren Wilson, 29, filed for divorce on December 6.

Police say Wilson had a medical episode a few months ago and he was involuntarily examined for mental health issues in November under the Baker Act.

A firearm was also reported stolen from the property. She didn't speak with him until the next day Christmas Eve and said she calmed him down.

The woman told deputies she spoke to Wilson the next day who said he had went to OH to visit family, but deputies said he was seen in Tennessee. Wilson asked about her having a hidden firearm, then told her where the firearm was hidden. She told him to come back to Knoxville.

One other comment particularly alarmed her.

When Wilson returned to Tennessee, his wife remembered him telling her to make sure she used the front door because the garage door was not going to open, according to a report.

A deputy discovered a Facebook account with Michael Wilson's name and photograph where the profile status had been changed to "widowed". He is being held on a $150,000.00 bond and will be extradited to the Flagler County Detention Facility to face charges.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the home Tuesday by its owner, the woman's father.
