Coutinho gives an update on his future that will worry Liverpool fans

Philippe Coutinho

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has said Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho would be the ideal fit for his old club, Barcelona.

The other factor Mundo Deportivo believe Barcelona have on their side is that Coutinho is said to have a pact with Liverpool over a transfer.

The pundit was speaking with ex-Norway worldwide Jan Aage Fjortoft of viaSport after Liverpool's 7-0 annihilation of Spartak Moscow in their final Champions League group stage clash while Coutinho joined the duo to discuss the game itself.

The Spanish soccer giants had three bids - the last of them around £117m - rejected last summer when Coutinho was tempted by the prospect of playing alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at the Nou Camp and submitted a transfer request. What will happen in January, we will know it in January.

The Reds playmaker scored a hat-trick in the 7-0 Champions League win over Spartak Moscow on Wednesday night and has now scored nine goals in 13 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions this season.

Liverpool's marquee player Philippe Coutinho was the subject of intense interest from Barcelona last summer, however a move never materialised in the end. "I do not know if there will be an offer", he said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

When asked about the Liverpool talisman, Fabregas told TV3: "I think he's a great player".

'I am here [at Liverpool], we have a lot of games and I try to do my best to help'. From where I see it, he is more comfortable inside, but the good thing about this player is that he can play in several positions.

With Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah up front, the Reds have one of the most exciting front line's in world football, and they are going to town in the Champions League this season.
