Clippers rally but fade down the stretch against Timberwolves

Minnesota Timberwolves game preview: Dec. 6 at Los Angeles Clippers

During Wednesday's game against the Clippers, the Timberwolves had a cushy lead against Los Angeles but a defensive rebound had Taj Gibson thinking, "Hey why not pad this lead even more?" It. did not go well.

Los Angeles Clippers guard Austin Rivers, left, and Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns reach for the ball during the second half of an NBA basketball game Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, in Los Angeles.

Over the years, Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Jimmy Butler has given National Basketball Association fans plenty of entertaining moments on and off the court.

This new reaction gif might live on in the annals of Twitter for a long time.

Los Angeles will attempt to get back on track Saturday against the Washington Wizards, while the Timberwolves will face the Dallas Mavericks on the same day.

Despite production from up and down the lineup, it was a rather ho-hum victory for the Timberwolves considering they led by as many 19 points after halftime only to let the Clippers back into the game.

NOTES: Clippers C DeAndre Jordan, one of only five players to average at least 11 rebounds and two blocks per game against the Timberwolves since the start of the 1985-86 season, had 21 rebounds but did not record a block against Minnesota on Wednesday.

"It's just been a steady progression I think", Thibodeau said.

"Gallo is day-to-day", Clippers head coach Doc Rivers said before Tuesday's practice, via the Los Angeles Times.

Los Angeles was fighting an uphill battle with Blake Griffin sidelined with a knee injury, Milos Teodosic out with a foot setback and Patrick Beverley out for the season because of knee surgery, and it showed in the final stretch.

Gallinari has missed the last 13 games while recovering from a strained left glute, last playing in a game November 5 against the Miami Heat. Instead of missing four of five of their opening-night starters, the Clippers were without three of five. Gallinari played with a restriction on his minutes after his 13-game layoff.

It was a step in the right direction. "He hasn't played in a while, but just having him on the floor means he's another guy who can make a shot".
