With the collapse comes the obvious question: Who will win the AFC West?
While the Chiefs now hold the top spot still due to their divisional record, they have the same record as both the Chargers and the Raiders.
The Chiefs and Raiders have similar issues: Neither defense can stop the opposition from moving the football.
Though it was a one-point victory over the Chiefs almost two months ago, the Raiders and the Chiefs have gone in totally different directions since that incredible ball game back at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
The Chargers are the hot team right now. He and defensive ends Khalil Mack and Denico Autry have played very well of late in the pass rush. Can they take control of their destiny, beat a team that's viewed as better than them, and lead the charge to a second-straight postseason? But in order to take it, they'll have to start this final quarter with a win against Kansas City.
The Chiefs certainly have a manageable schedule to win out, but we've all been saying that since the bye week.
The Oakland Raiders (6-6) are suddenly challenging the Kansas City Chiefs (6-6) for the lead in the AFC West as they visit Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday as small road underdogs. Though Fisher has not been the left tackle stalwart Kansas City thought it was getting out of Central Michigan, Fisher has been at the very worst a serviceable National Football League left tackle.
The Chiefs opened as four-point favorites; the total was 47.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.
The Chiefs are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games vs divisional opponents. The Chiefs were favored by three points for that game but Oakland came out on top 31-30. The Chiefs' just happens to be in the now, so it's fresh in all of our minds, but the Chargers started off 0-4 and the Raiders were 2-4 at one point after a hot start to the season.
Their journeys to this point could not look any different. This could mean that the Chiefs are about to go on a run of their own or it could mean that the victor of the AFC West is 8-8 or 9-7.
Our Free NFL Prediction: This one will be a tough game as both teams are definitely going to be looking for a win here despite being quite inconsistent lately. Not long before that, the Seahawks at 7-9 hosted a playoff game and won.
Per Football Outsiders, Oakland' pass defense is 25th in the NFL on the left side of the field, 28th over the middle, 31st on the right side, 28th on short passes, and dead-last in the league on deep passes (and almost twice as bad as the next-worst team).
At the end of the day, someone has to win the AFC West and sit in that (likely) four-seed in the AFC playoffs.
Seemingly all the betting trends in this divisional matchup favor Kansas City.
