Brandon Marshall wants to help Eli Apple

Eli Apple's brother says family strife is reason for his dramatic spirals

The New York Giants season has been one to forget, and needless to say it will end that way.

He apparently argued with coaches, including position coach Tim Walton. He has been benched several times this year, and got into a confrontation on Wednesday with cornerbacks coach Tim Walton after being told to play on the scout team because he had been demoted from the starting lineup.

The final week of this brutal campaign wouldn't be complete without a Giants-branded controversy, as the feud between secondary teammates Landon Collins and Eli Apple has reached a boiling point.

Collins would later apologize for the controversy in a Wednesday afternoon tweet, mentioning he spoke with both interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo and quarterback/captain Eli Manning on the matter.

A few days ago, Giants safety Landon Collins slammed his teammate, saying he "needs to grow up" and called him a "cancer" on the team, NBC Sports reported.

Thursday morning, in the final coaches news conference before Friday night's Cotton Bowl against USC, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said he didn't know much about Apple's situation in NY, but he was surprised by it and he wants to reach Apple. After offering praise for fellow defenders Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Janoris Jenkins, Collins offered the damning critique of Apple: "That first pick ... he's a cancer".

However, despite what Collins said earlier, Blackson says it's their mother, Annie Apple, who is the real "cancer" in his life. I'm a person that looks at the positive and believes anything and everything can be restored. Besides, the other two guys, [Rodgers-Cromartie] and [Jenkins], I love those two guys.

Collins later apologized for the remarks, according to reports.

Coach Sean McVay also said Wednesday that he'll rest left tackle Andrew Whitworth and center John Sullivan against the 49ers on Sunday to prepare the NFC West champion Rams (11-4) for the playoffs. "It's between them and they were really great".

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - First-round draft pick Patrick Mahomes II will make his National Football League debut at quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs when they play an otherwise meaningless game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Apple's half-brother, Dane Blackson, meanwhile, came to the player's defense. "I feel like he never had a fair shot". I mean, a lot of this sh- that you could be judging him on, there's really a master behind him pulling the strings. "I think that's a discussion we have to have in the offseason". Collins returned the favor by bashing Apple and labeling him the worst thing you can be in a locker room. "I know everyone always talks about the fame and all of the attention and how all of that can go to your head".
