Arsenal were 'paralysed' in first half, says Wenger

Arsene Wenger's team will go above Liverpool with a win on Friday

On loan at Bournemouth last season, Arsenal fans are witnessing Wilshere fully fit for the first time in years.

Arsenal failed to record a shot on target in the opening period, while a rampant Liverpool should have had more to show for their dominance at the interval than Philippe Coutinho's first headed Premier League goal.

He has only six months left on his deal in north London but - speaking after the 3-3 draw - Wenger suggested that he wants to keep him at Arsenal.

Even the young Spaniard Hector Bellerin spoke about Wenger's influence in giving the players back their belief before taking the field for the second half.

"So, you look at the other teams who played at the top and you tell me who has played with four players who have been educated in their academy?"

Monreal was replaced by Shkodran Mustafi at half-time in a change that many assumed was tactical as the fit-again German global is more suited to playing at centre-back. "After that, you want all the players to be respected who have played for us".

The Gunners manager said: "In the first half we were paralysed and frozen. You always have regrets after being 3-2 up but overall it was a fair result".

"What he did in the second half was like the rest of the team".

"He is better now than in the last two or three years".

Hours after the match had finished, most of the Arsenal squad were probably wrapped up asleep but Wilshere - having completed 90 minutes yet again - was not interested in sleeping in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Wilshere has had to fight his way back into the first-team fold at Arsenal after a number of troubling injuries had blighted his career in the capital.

"I don't know what you mean by parking the bus", he said after the game.

"It would not be fair to put the defeat at Liverpool, where the whole team had a bad performance, on one player", he said."After that, on the other side, you analyse 'did you make mistakes or not?' You can not go home and say everything was flawless when you lose like we did".
