Italian media outlet Tuttosport report that Juventus efforts in singing Liverpool's German worldwide Emre Can has been boosted as the Premier League side is edging closer to snapping up Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka.

Tashan Deniran-Alleyne of cited a report from German newspaper Bild, which said Goretzka "has been lured to Merseyside" by Reds chief Jurgen Klopp and will follow former Schalke team-mate Joel Matip to the club.

Goretzka has recently been linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe - with Barcelona, Manchester Utd, Arsenal and of course Liverpool all rumored to be looking to bring the German in the next transfer window.

Goretzka has been likened to Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira following a promising start to his Bundesliga career at Schalke 04.

The German midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, and is free to talk to non-English clubs from Monday.

If these reports are correct, Liverpool could have a formidable midfield for the 2018/19 campaign, having already secured a deal to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, although it looks increasingly likely that Emre Can will be leaving the club on a free transfer, with Juventus keen on signing him.

After impressing in the Bundesliga, the forward wants to try his hand in the Premier League, and attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur as well as the Reds and Arsenal before making up his mind where he wants to go.

Liverpool aren't hanging around after landing Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
