AC Origins "Inspires" Far Cry 5 & The Crew 2 Delays From Ubisoft

Assassin's Creed Origins

Far Cry 5 was due to release on February 27th 2018 but will now land a month later on March 27th instead. And that unannounced game, which is said to be one of three unannounced franchise titles, has been pushed to fiscal 2019-20. The cause for delay is that they want more time to playtest and implement feedback.

The announcement stated that The Crew 2 will also be delayed but with a less concrete date.

We imagine the Far Cry 5delay will allow the development team to smooth out some of the later development stage issues like framerate and minor bugs.

She continued on to say, "As expected, this had a very positive impact on the game's quality and largely participated to its commercial success".

'Taking a similar approach, we have made a decision to invest additional development time in three upcoming games'. Less details about The Crew 2 have been released, but we can expect the ability to race cars, boats, and airplanes - switching between them at will during the same game session. Fiscal year 2018 started on October 1st 2017 which means the game may be delayed until late May 2018.

As upsetting as delays can be it's always a good sign when publishers actually seem to care about the state their games are going to be released in.

Ubisoft has announced that they will be delayed the release of three of their upcoming games, in order to help their staff better express their vision. If recent history is any indication, the wait will be more than worth it.
