Gusty winds are expected early Thursday with rain changing to snow in the valleys as cooler air settled in behind the front on Thursday, but accumulations are expected to be light. That sky is partly to mostly sunny with a seasonable afternoon high temp in the low to mid 40s and a light south wind.

Up to 3 feet of snow is expected to fall in the Sierra as a winter storm watch has been issued from Wednesday night through Friday morning in the Truckee area, the National Weather Service reports. As more moisture streams into the area from the south and low pressure takes control, drizzle will transition into rain showers by this evening.
