President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke for "a little over an hour" Tuesday morning, discussing a range of pressing worldwide concerns a day after Putin met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, a White House official told CNN. In addition, the two leaders discussed how to achieve peace in Ukraine and the need to keep pressure on North Korea to end its nuclear program, it said.
Trump called it a "great call" Tuesday afternoon as he left the White House to spend Thanksgiving in Florida.
Trump's phone call with the Russian president on Tuesday comes a day after Putin met with Syrian President Bashar Assad.

Trump and Putin spoke informally several times when they attended the Apec summit in Vietnam.
