Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers: How to watch

Ben Roethlisberger: NFL needs to 'get rid of' Thursday night games

"Everyone who's played on Thursday night would say the same thing". Obviously a team with a losing record isn't going to challenge you much so it's safe to say that the Steelers are looking ahead each Sunday to keep themselves focused on the goal.

The week has barely started and Ben Roethlisberger is already setting the stage for a Thursday night disappointment.

Perhaps a bit of rust remained coming off the bye week but one of the premier offenses in the National Football League has still to hit 30 points in a game this season and are ranked a criminal 31st when it comes to scoring in the red zone. It was so much fun to be on his team to watch what he did to other quarterbacks.

This is more than likely going to be Roethlisberger's last hurrah in a Hall of Fame career and at times they have required him to pull some magic out of the hat - his completion to Brown under pressure against the Colts with 45 seconds remaining was right out of the top drawer to help set up Boswell's game-winner. The teams are nearly the same on offence but the edge does go to the Steelers for the better defence and having the home crowd.

Defensively for the Titans, linebacker Wesley Woodyard now leads the unit in total tackles (78). "Does it surprise me, not really because he is the best at what he does and he will find ways to get his team in the best situation possible with the players he has".

Then he goes on to describe what Thursday is like when a team has just played a game on Sunday and they're scheduled on TNF. Roethlisberger said anyone new to the offense is comfortable with the signals and play-calling in the no-huddle, and it might provide them some familiarity in a short week. You'd never hear this kind of rant, on day one of preparation no less, from Tom Brady about having to play on Thursday.

There are some things that are such a natural beauty in life you can't bother but marvel in awe at them. Those are the guys you have the biggest questions about, I haven't seen one iota of doubt, question or anything from them. I don't know many players that like it. We have to do it. It is a violent sport and with little time between games to prepare makes its harder for players to recuperate in time for the contest.

Roethlisberger's biggest strife with the process is that it doesn't allow enough time for the players to physically and mentally prepare for everything that is entailed in an National Football League game. They have to go through it too.
