Sweden coach Janne Andersson unhappy with Zlatan Ibrahimovic questions

International return for Zlatan gets Sweden talking

The Swedes squeezed past Italy via a 1-0 aggregate scoreline in the play-offs, with Jakob Johansson's strike in the first leg, coupled with a dogged defensive performance at the San Siro last night, meaning the yellow and blues have qualified at the expense of the 2006 winners - as well as robbing us of another World Cup appearance for the legendary Gianluigi Buffon.

Much talk is now turning to whether Ibrahimović could turn back his decision to retire, and return to the global stage for one final pop at the World Cup with Sweden.

He posted the following picture on Twitter, accompanied by the caption: "We are Zweden".

It was a heroic achievement for the Swedes, but even after such a stunning result, Andersson was hit with questions over whether Ibrahimovic, who retired following Euro 2016 with 62 goals in 116 caps, would be returning to worldwide action.

"This is incredible! This player [Ibrahimovic] has just stopped to play with Sweden one year and a half ago and we are still here talking about him", Andersson said.

The 36-year-old Manchester United striker - who has not played since April due to a knee ligament injury - dominated the post-match news conference but Sweden head coach Andersson preferred to focus on the group of players who sealed the country's passage to Russian Federation next year.

Yet talk of this hasn't exactly impressed national team Coach Lars Richt, who is quoted as saying that: "It is clear that I can not say anything about it".

We can think of one person who is most definitely revelling in all this feverish Zlatan chatter, and his name begins with a "Z".

Andersson, however, was quick to dismiss talk of a sensational return for the 36-year-old.

Mino Raiola would "personally deliver" Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Russian Federation 2018 if he could, and get him to play for his country one last time.
