Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews is not likely to be part of the team's bowling lineup against India in the subcontinental rivals' upcoming Test series, Sri Lanka bowling coach Rumesh Ratnayake revealed this morning. We know they are a good side. Now India are hosting a return series comprising three Tests and equal number of ODIs and T20Is.

"This series is completely different as compared to what we played in Sri Lanka". So it's a dream for us to win one this time. This will be a challenging series for us. If we want to be no 1 team, every series is important. We all know how to adjust in different formats.

Captain Dinesh Chandimal is dreaming of Sri Lanka making history by winning a Test in India - despite being huge underdogs against the world's top-ranked side when the series begins in Kolkata on Thursday. For us, each and every series, each and every match matters before going to South Africa. We will think about South Africa when we go there. "We need to start well in this series".

"Even for Sri Lanka this is a very important series and they are preparing really well". We are just focusing on this series right now.

"We just want to play our game rather than thinking about their game and strategy", he added.

Sri Lanka lost all nine matches - three Tests, five ODIs and a T20I - as they were humiliated at home by Virat Kohli's tourists from late July to September. Do that I think 5-6 maybe more than that. I don't think will have problem in adjustment. He had perched to the top of ICC Test all-rounders rankings for the first in August and was also the top bowler.

"It is important to improve your game. when you are practising at the nets, it is important to evolve". I just want to improve. If an opportunity comes in the game, I'm 100 per cent confident of playing a particular shot. "So I am just practising reverse sweeps, sweeps and paddle sweeps just as an option".

"I'm comfortable playing those shots".

Rahane got out for 49 and 45 in his last two Ranji matches against Odisha and Baroda respectively, but he was "not too concerned" about that. For me I have been batting very well. "I just wanted to play as many balls as possible without being anxious about the scores". Training is very important as well as the recovery.

Samaraweera spoke to each of them individually and they later headed for a shadow practice session.

The Eden track, generally a slow-turner, had a lot of grass on it on Monday but after instructions from the team management it was removed.

After Eden Gardens hosts the first test, the two sides will travel to Nagpur and Delhi for the second and third match.
