One-off McLaren 720S revealed at Dubai motor show

One-off Mc Laren 720S revealed at Dubai motor show

Translated, the Arabic lettering reads: "Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone", words once uttered by none other than McLaren's founder, Bruce McLaren.

It's another one-off, finished in satin Zenith Black paint with a bucket-load of gold accents. The steering wheel, gearshift paddles and door cards all feature gold detailing while, in a nod to the iconic McLaren F1, the engine bay heatshield has been lined with 24-carat gold. Not only that, but the lettering has been shaped to mimic the skyline of Dubai. Short of taking a hacksaw to the auto itself, there isn't much MSO can't do to customise or personalise a vehicle, and it works with some of the world's wealthiest buyers. Exterior upgrades replace the front splitter, air intakes, rear bumper and roof with carbonfibre units.

The 2017 Dubai Motor Show is in full swing, and McLaren has chosen this opportunity to unveil the latest creation from its bespoke division, MSO (McLaren Special Operations). The interior is also completely black, with both black Alcantara and black leather trim complemented by MSO Defined carbon fiber sill panels, fascia vents and steering wheel. Certainly we can imagine that the owner won't be holding the performance back when he takes delivery of the vehicle following the conclusion of the Dubai show later this week. Aside from the colour and interior trim customisations, the auto is unchanged over the standard 720S.

McLaren says the personalization added more than 120 hours to the production process, including 30 hours alone to complete the rear wing stencil graphic.

"The quote from Bruce McLaren rings true not only of the history of McLaren but also the achievements of the UAE and the Gulf states over the last four decades". The UAE and the region are very important to McLaren, not only in terms of our client base, but also because of the support from our shareholders.
