NFL owners say they might change anthem policy if protests persist report

Former NFL running back Herschel Walker blamed NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for the longevity of NFL protests.

With most National Football League executives at odds with players who have chosen to kneel during the "Star Spangled Banner" and continue Colin Kaepernick's protest against racial injustice in America, there is a good chance they would revert to the old policy that would keep players in the locker room while the song is being played, according to a Washington Post report Tuesday.

"I've been saying that guys should have been suspended at the beginning", he continued. "Our flag is very special, and black lives matter, but what we should do is go to Washington after the season and protest there instead". We have young men and women fighting for the flag. "They need to give him a chance", Walker said, explaining he has known Trump since 1982 when he entered the USFL as a member of the New Jersey Generals, owned by Trump for a few years.

Trump has most recently targeted Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch for sitting during the national anthem, but standing for Mexico's.

"Everyone needs to stand". I don't care what people say.

Players did not typically stand on the sideline for the national anthem until 2009, when the NFL changed its policy to bring the teams out before "The Star-Spangled Banner".

Goodell is reported to have a contract extension finalized in the coming weeks that will be worth $40 million a year through 2023.
