Moon and Li agree to normalize bilateral ties

South Korea, China agree to manage North Korea issue peacefully, in stable manner

"I want to take bilateral ties to a new level through these kind of high-level exchanges", Abe told reporters, adding he planned to meet Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in the Philippines in coming days. "I believe we will be able to quickly develop the countries' strategic cooperative partnership in the very near future if we work to turn our past difficulties into a chance and pool our wisdom".

It's for this reason that the worldwide community must pressure North Korea into talks as soon as possible, including through use of sanctions, Moon said Tuesday, per Reuters.

According to the two Presidents, their meeting in Vietnam marked the beginning of new Sino-South Korean relations in the wake of China's economic retaliation for THAAD deployment in South Korea.

"We hope that South Korea will properly match its words with actions", Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said at a regular press conference on October 31, noting that South Korea had agreed not to make further deployments of the missile shield.

Li said the Seoul-Beijing relations were already facing "active" or positive changes.

Moon's remarks were made available by his presidential office, the Blue House.

Also on Saturday, the US and South Korea launched a joint naval drill in a show of strength against the North's leader Kim Jong-un. He also hopes to travel to China for a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping next year.

China on Saturday vowed to strengthen coordination with its neighbours in dealing with the North Korean issue, as US President Donald Trump complimented Beijing on helping to rein in Pyongyang.

Xi said stable Sino-Japan relations was important to the region, but added that Japan needed to do more to improve mutual trust between the two nations, Xinhua reported.

South Korea's foreign minister is expected to visit China soon to fine-tune preparations for the upcoming summit between their leaders, a government source said Monday.

China is South Korea's largest trading partner, buying about a quarter of the country's exports.
