Massive gas explosion ignites fire in Detroit suburb

A fire burned for almost two hours in Oakland County's Orion Township reportedly due to a gas line explosion.

Auburn Hills police tweeted that areas in Orion Township were being evacuated as a precaution. Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV described the noise of the fire as "deafening" from as far as a quarter of a mile away. All of the Sheriff's Office 911 lines and non-emergency lines are out.

Evacuations are being ordered after a large gas line fire was sparked Monday night in Orion Township near the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets. He said construction workers who were working to build a new Menards store (a home improvement store), broke the gas line which resulted in the huge explosion.
