Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra on Tuesday (14 November) has launched the facelift of its best-selling SUV Scorpio at a price of Rs 9.97 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The SUV will come in four versions, S3, S5, S7 while the top model 4WD is priced at Rs 16.01 lakh. It will be offered in 7,8 and 9 seating configurations. Only the S7 and S11 get the new six-speed gearbox, which uses a new self-adjusting clutch that Mahindra claims will call for lower, consistent effort even towards the end of its lifecycle.
The refreshed, new for 2018 Mahindra Scorpio has been launched in India. At the rear, the updated Scorpio gets a new bumper, a new red theme for the LED tail-lamps, a new wiper, and a redesigned tailgate. At the sides, the indicators have now moved to the outside rearview mirrors from the front fenders and it now rides on a set of new five-spoke alloy wheels. New skid plates, taillamp clusters and turn indicators are other additions in the new avatar.
On the inside, the higher-spec variants now sport new faux leather upholstery; the steering wheel and gear lever are also wrapped in the same.
In terms of features, the new 2018 Mahindra Scorpio gets a reverse parking camera, more storage space inside the cabin, a delayed power window operation function even after the engine is shut, auto-roll up function for the driver side window and more.
As for the safety of the occupants, it comes loaded with latest generation braking system with 9.1 Bosch ABS. Mahindra Scorpio facelift is powered by the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine, but now the oil burner comes in two states of tune which is, the existing 120 bhp version and a tuned 140 bhp version. The engine is linked to an all-new easy shift 6-Speed manual transmission.
The all new Mahindra Scorpio is going to compete with the likes of Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Terrano, and Renault Captur.
