LiAngelo Ball Arrested In China for Shoplifting ... UCLA Cooperating with Officials

Three UCLA basketball players were reportedly arrested Tuesday on shoplifting charges during the team's global trip to China, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. Ball is the middle son of motormouth basketball dad LaVar Ball.

LiAngelo Ball, Cody Riley and Jalen Hill were arrested at the team's hotel in Hangzhou, a city near Shanghai, reported ESPN college basketball's Jeff Goodman.

There is now a non-zero chance that LaVar Ball will start an global incident. The university is "cooperating fully with local authorities" and has no further comment at this time.

"It's a terrific experience not just for our players, but also for our staff", said UCLA head coach Steve Alford, according to the school's official website.

"They weren't messing around", the source said.

Georgia Tech released a statement saying that the Yellowjackets players who were questioned have since been cleared.

"During the questioning, it was determined that Georgia Tech student-athletes were not involved in the activities being investigated", a statement to the AJC read. The team is set to open its regular season against Georgia Tech in Shanghai on Friday. But now it seems the Bruins will need to attend to a serious legal matter involving three of their basketball players before they can worry about playing a game.
