Attaulah Malik, Ammar's father shared this story on Youtube and LinkedIn as well, where he acknowledged that his son's face can not always unlock his mother's phone, as reported by Wired. The family told Wired that Malik also managed to unlock his father's iPhone X a couple of times. The video comprises of 41-second and the family has been successful in unlocking iPhone X.
The Video shows the Mother locking the phone and then unlocking with her face, passes it to her son, Mark who is 10 year old, in less than a second, the phone actually does the same.
Attuallah Malik and Sana Sherwani discovered this when their fifth-grade son Ammar Malik simply picked up his mother's new iPhone X without her permission and shocked her by unlocking the device with his first glance. The interesting part is that the phone's security was set up by her Face ID. The researchers asserted on November 10 they successfully bypassed the feature while released the POC video of the hack and concluded that unlike Apple's suggestion Face ID wasn't so secure.
Since the iPhone X has hit the market, people have been trying all sorts of ways to trick the phone's Face ID feature, including this creepy, cobbled-together mask.
Where the Screen takes over all the front display, making it edge-to-edge design, there is No Space for the Touch ID, and according to Apple, if it doesn't stay on the Front then NO to the back, there and then we have the Face ID! One of the advanced features which the technology giant Apple banked upon and promoted heavily about iPhone X was the way it has been created to be unlock using one's facial features which Apple has termed it the Face ID. It was proven earlier that it can be unlocked easily by an identical twin.
Other than that, the eyes were represented with printed 2D images, with a little extra special processing done on the cheeks and other areas of the face where there are large areas of skin.
Bkav's claims come despite Apple's statement that the engineering team had collaborated with "professional mask makers and make-up artists in Hollywood to protect against these attempts to beat Face ID".
