Giants vs. Chiefs inactives: Sterling Shepard, Eli Apple out

As expected, Shepard's migraines were too much for the second-year receiver to overcome, leaving the Giants' receiving corps particularly short-handed.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported details of Shepard's injury. Shepard had 11 receptions for 142 yards in the loss to the 49ers and was praised by Ben McAdoo for the leadership he is displaying, despite his youth.

He was considered a game-time decision before being officially ruled out Sunday afternoon.

Linebackers B.J. Goodson (ankle) and Kelvin Sheppard (groin), offensive lineman Justin Pugh (back), wide receiver Sterling Shepard (illness), tackle John Greco, cornerback Eli Apple and quarterback Davis Webb. His mother, Annie, underwent brain surgery Thursday and remains in recovery.

For the Giants, undrafted rookie Chad Wheeler will start in place of Pugh and over Bobby Hart at right tackle.

Undrafted rookie Calvin Munson starts at middle linebacker, his third career National Football League start, in place of injured B.J. Goodson and Kelvin Sheppard. He was expected to form a risky trio at wideout for the Giants alongside Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall.
