Dorian O'Daniel of Clemson is a finalist for the Butkus Award

MI sophomore linebacker Devin Bush Jr. has been named a finalist for the Butkus Award, given to the nation's best linebacker.

A win by Smith for one or more of the awards for which he's nominated would place him in a class along with David Pollack for most awarded season by a Georgia defensive player.

Dick Butkus was a hard hitting collegiate and professional linebacker. Last year, Alabama linebacker Rueben Foster won the award.

O'Daniel is Clemson's leading tackler with 90 stops so far this year, 21 more tackles than any other Tiger. Edmunds is one of five finalists, two of which are in the ACC. He had a 44-yard pick six at Louisville and a 22-yard interception return for a score at Virginia Tech.

Devin Bush. The freshman has 89 tackles (leads team), 9.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, eight pass breakups and one interception.

The victor of the 23rd Chuck Bednarik Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 7. Today, the Butkus Award released their finalists for their award.

O'Daniel joins Levon Kirkland (1990), Ed McDaniel (1991) and Keith Adams (2000) as the only Clemson linebackers to be named a finalist. The honor recognizes the best defensive player in college football season, as judged by the Football Writers Association of American and the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
