Davido beats Wizkid to win MTV EMA best African act

2017 MTV EMA Davido Edges Wizkid To Win “Best African Act” Award

Luck smiled on Nigeria's sensational pop star, David Adeleke when he raked in an award at the 2017 Europe Music Award. According to him, the award he received from AFRIMA is already peeling and he doesn't need their award!

Reacting, the singer posted a video on Instagram Story, saying: "Let those ones keep their awards".

Although Davido was nominated for AFRIMA, he did not emerge victor in any of the categories.

Davido was nominated in the category alongside Wizkid, South Africa's Babes Wodumo & Nasty C, Angola's C4 Pedro, and Kenya's Nyashinksi.

Songbird Rue was running for the Best Female Artiste in Southern Africa Award that was won by South Africa's Thandiswa.

Though artistes from the rest of Africa did well, Afrima 2017 was dominated by Nigerian acts. He landed three major awards: Best West African Artiste award, The Song of the Year and the Artiste of the year, beating the likes of Davido, Runtown and Tekno in the process.
