Alshon Jeffrey on his former Bears Super Bowl appearance promise

Philadelphia Eagles' Brent Celek from left Le Garrette Blount, Carson Wentz rear and Stefen Wisniewski right celebrate a touchdown catch made by Alshon Jeffery in the second half of

Alshon Jeffery lines up against a familiar opponent when the Chicago Bears arrive in Philadelphia. "I hope so", Jeffery responded when asked if he'd like to stay an Eagle past this season, "but right now I'm just playing football, just staying locked in, and focusing in on one day at a time". "Hopefully, we come out to win and just have fun with it".

What's wild is the one-year contract for Jeffery fell into the laps of the Eagles.

The Bears may be second-guessing their decision to let a Pro Bowl-caliber receiver depart in free agency.

"No disrespect to any of my boys there but I would say we're probably a lot tighter here", Jeffery said of the receiving corps. "I'm happy with that". "I think it was just a better decision for me and my family, honestly".

Nevertheless, Jeffery still has some ties to the organization that selected him in the second round (No.45 overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. That's in the past, and he's fine with leaving it there.

"That was a special locker room", Jeffery said.

"I've been trying to make the playoffs every year since I've been in the National Football League", he said. "I'm letting my agent and [Eagles VP of football operations] Howie [Roseman] talk about that".

"I love it here in Philly, man", he said. The team signed Jeffery to be their lead receiver and add firepower for quarterback Carson Wentz. As for the Eagles, they like what they've seen all along.

"Winning championships, that's most important to me", he said. "These things take time - the chemistry, the opportunities - and so the confidence level grows".

On Sunday night at Dallas, Jeffery caught four catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Jeffery has 38 catches for 567 yards and six touchdowns.

Then again, statistical milestones don't seem to be what drives Jeffery. "That's all that matters".

The oddsmakers took their Super Bowl forecasting a step further, releasing odds on the most likely matchups for Super Bowl 52.

It's time for fans to give some thanks to the 9-1 Philadelphia Eagles. "I guarantee you we'll win the Super Bowl next year".

The ball is coming Jeffery's way, and his team is winning. Obviously, it is easier said than done, but the Eagles have done it convincingly. He doesn't complain. He doesn't come crawling into my office and say he's not being targeted enough, or this and that, which sometimes receivers can do, especially premier guys.

"Everything else is a bonus. You're still going to need the other 10 guys out there".

Jeffery's departure is emblematic of the Bears' fortunes in the post-Lovie Smith era: Even when they get one right, it turns out wrong. He admits he still has some friends in Chicago, and some trash talk "comes with the territory", but his focus is exclusively on the Eagles' season and the task at hand.
