After Madhya Pradesh, Punjab Chief Minister supports protests against Padmavati

Activists of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena hold placards demanding the ban on screening of upcoming Bollywood movie'Padmavati, in Ranchi on Saturday

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had on Saturday written to Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani o ensure that "Padmavati" is not released without necessary changes to the film.

Chouhan and his party members from the ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) have been vocal against the film.

"We will not tolerate any distortion of historical facts".

Amid raging protests over the period movie Padmavati, the Madhya Pradesh government on Monday chose to ban the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial. "We will now protest to ensure governments in other states follow MP's example too", said Kiran Suryavanshi Rathore, Karni Sena Bhopal district leader.

Reacting sharply to the vandalisation of a Kota mall recently, Padukone said people have regressed as a nation.

MP CP Joshi further added that that the film should be banned if they object to it after the screening.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday said that it will not let Bollywood movie "Padmavati" be released in the state unless its "controversial portions" are removed.

On Sunday, the makers of the film postponed the release of the film following nationwide protests by several Rajput groups.

The top court suggested that the Censor Board should take an independent view over the issue, saying it can't substitute role of CBFC.

While yesterday the makers of Padmavati made a decision to push the release of the film so that the situation could calm down, it seems like the protesters are not ready to give any chance to film.

Meanwhile, due to CBFC's refusal to certify the film on the grounds of "incomplete application", the makers have voluntarily delayed the film's release.

The Karni Sena has been up in arms against Bhansali for the suspected misrepresentation of history' in Padmavati.
