UFC Returning to Winnipeg: Lawler vs. Dos Anjos

Former UFC champions Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos will meet in a five-round welterweight main event on December 16 in Winnipeg, per UFC officials.

Next on the agenda as he climbs the 170lb. ladder once again is yet another former lightweight star in Rafael Dos Anjos.

UFC officials made the announcement on Thursday.

Lawler recently got back in the win column after a high-profile setback, outpointing Donald Cerrone in July at UFC 214.

Former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler's return to the Octagon is set. That was his first fight since dropping the welterweight title to Tyron Woodley via KO at UFC 210, a defeat which snapped a five fight winning streak that included a fight of the year victory over Canadian Rory MacDonald. Against dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 26, he'll look to string together a couple of wins to work his way back into title contention.

He has enjoyed tremendous success in his new division, beating Tarec Saffiedine to a unanimous decision in his divisional debut before scoring a first-round submission over Neil Magny.

The fight against Lawler will give dos Anjos the chance to prove his run at welterweight is no fluke as he tries to put himself into position to fight for the gold next year.

Prior to moving up to the welterweight division, dos Anjos had dropped his last two fights as a lightweight, losing the 155-pound strap to Eddie Alvarez in July 2016 and then falling to Tony Ferguson four months later in November.
