Tyler Eifert deciding whether to have third back surgery of career

According to a report by ESPN Bishop Dwenger graduate Tyler Eifert will undergo back surgery that will sideline him the rest of the 2017 season.

Eifert is now in Los Angeles during the Bengals' bye week as he decides whether to have micro-disk surgery, which would be the third surgical procedure on his back in his career.

Cincinnati picked up Eifert's fifth-year option on his rookie contract during the 2016 offseason but likely have concerns re-signing him long-term given his injury history.

Eifert will be out between four and six months and become a free agent in the winter, Schefter reported, citing an unnamed source.

Eifert has shown the ability to play at a Pro Bowl level when healthy.

If he is able to return this season, we project Eifert for 45.0 catches, 502.2 yards and 3.66 touchdowns on 68.3 targets.

This will be the third back surgery of his career. He hasn't played since week two of the regular season.
