Stephen Paddock's father launched violent attack in Las Vegas decades ago

A concert headlined by Kiwi artist Lorde could have been an early target for the man who killed 59 and injured more than 500 at a country music festival in Las Vegas. Paddock was later found dead in a hotel room on the Strip with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect's brother Eric Paddock told media he was "dumbfounded" by Sunday's events, not mentioning whether his brother had converted to Islam.

Trump also announced that he would travel to Las Vegas tomorrow.

"I've met her three or four times", Paddock's brother, Eric, was quoted by CBS News as saying.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for his actions.

Lombardo said law enforcement authorities had located a "person of interest" who he named as Marilou Danley, believed to be the suspect's roommate.

Las Vegas sheriff Joseph Lombardo said police wanted to formally interview Ms Danley, a former casino worker, when she returned to the United States from a visit to Japan.

Authorities later said they had contacted Ms Danley while she was travelling outside the U.S. and determined that she did not participate in the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history.

"They might have got married, but I don't think they're married".

Some neighbours in Reno, Nevada, where Stephen Paddock owned yet another home, told the Post's reporters that he was "reclusive" or "quiet" or "unfriendly".

In addition, authorities believe that Stephen Paddock acted alone.

Paddock was placed on the FBI's list after escaping in 1968 from the Federal Correctional Institution in La Tuna, Texas.

According to Dionne Waltrip, one of Geary's children, her father had no knowledge of Danley's relationship with Paddock.

One of the 23 guns found in Stephen Paddock's hotel room, with ammunition strewn on the floor beside it.

Paddock's motives are a mystery so far as there were no obvious religious affiliations his relatives knew him to have, thus it was not deemed a terror attack. Gomez said. "Did she see him operating these weapons, training, working on these weapons?" We don't know exactly where Stephen was at each juncture of "Chromedome's" criminal career, but it's the sort of thing that could mess you up and perhaps give you an exposure to weaponry. He had a recent live-in girlfriend and two ex-wives and seemed to live a comfortable life in a Nevada retirement community.

Whether a crime is called terrorism has important practical implications, as Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes, whose state endured the mass killing at Sandy Hook elementary school, in 2012, pointed out.

"She is a good and gentle person", Waltrip said.
