Sasikala granted five-day parole to meet husband

Sasikala has been in Parapana Agrahara central jail since February this year after the Supreme Court upheld her conviction by a special court in a disproportionate assets case

Though Sasikala applied for 15 days' parole on Wednesday, the prison authority permitted her to be out of jail for only five days with conditions.

Sasikala received a rousing welcome by supporters who had gathered at various locations along the Bengaluru-Chennai route. Mr. Natarajan, who had been admitted at the liver intensive care unit of the hospital under a team of doctors headed by Professor Mohamed Rela with worsening liver failure, kidney failure and lung congestion, underwent liver and kidney transplantation on October 4.

It has also been stipulated in the conditions that she should not entertain any visitors either at her residence or the hospital.

About an hour before Sasikala's arrival, an elderly maid from Poes Garden, Rajamma, was brought to Habibullah Road.From 9 p.m cadre were eagerly waiting for her arrival. She is also not supposed to involve in political activities and also can't interact with media.

Sasikala, a long time aide of Jayalalithaa, would be staying in the house of her sister-in-law Ilavarasi's daughter Krishnapriya residence at T Nagar here, said party sources.

She was accompanied from Bengaluru by her nephew and sidelined AIADMK leader T T V Dhinakaran.

Rajya Sabha member from Tamil Nadu, Navneet Krishnan, has given an undertaking for Sasikala's parole, her lawyer Krisnappana told reporters outside the jail premises. Sasikala left for Chennai around 3 pm after the documentation.

On Tuesday, the Karnataka Prisons department had rejected Sasikala's parole application.

Sasikala has been lodged in the Parapana Agrahara central jail since February after the Supreme Court upheld her conviction by a special court in a disproportionate assets case.
