The latest HurricaneOphelia path from the NOAA forecasts that the storm will reach the United Kingdom as a post-tropical cyclone in the early hours of Monday morning.
The remnants of Ophelia look set to reach the United Kingdom on Monday, with unsettled weather expected to cause disruption, the Met Office said.
Slight strengthening is expected over the next day or two.
Forecaster Eleanor Bell, of The Weather Channel, said: "Latest model guidance is indicating Ophelia will move in from the Azores across the Biscay area around Sunday and move on towards Britain early next week".
It will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Great Storm of 1987, which hit southern England overnight on October 15, caused £1 billion worth of damage and left 18 people dead. For the last time, so many storms had become hurricanes in 1893.
The west coast of Ireland and Scotland are expected to suffer most with strong winds.
"Above-normal temperatures could continue into Monday before getting cooler from Tuesday".
