Coming off the financial and critical success of the original Paddington film, StudioCanal quickly greenlighted the follow-up film in 2015. Brendan Gleeson will play "Knuckles" McGinty, "a notorious safe-cracker and legendary strongman who becomes an unexpected new ally for Paddington". After all, arguably the most memorable image from this trailer is Paddington sticking toothbrushes up various orifices, rather than the action on the train!
Ahead of its United Kingdom release next month, StudioCanal and Heyday Films have debuted a new trailer for Paul King's upcoming sequel Paddington 2; watch it below, along with a new poster... TWC-Dimension has a January 12, 2018 US release date set.
It has been a complete joy to return to the world of Paddington.
Paddington 2 sees the charming, marmalade-loving bear "happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens". David Heyman is also back to produce via his Heyday Films banner, with Studiocanal. Nicely settled in his new life with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens, Paddington comes across a one of a kind pop-up book in Mr. Gruber's antique shop, and immediately decides that it would be the ideal present for his Aunt Lucy's 100th birthday.
Ben Whishaw is again voicing the titular mischief-maker with other returning cast members Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi and Jim Broadbent. King worked with Simon Farnaby on the story for the much-anticipated sequel.
The plot revolves around a stolen antique book, which Paddington is wrongly accused of stealing.
