A 16-year-old who opened fire on officers in a West Melbourne home was found inside the home deceased, West Melbourne Police said.
During the police interview, the 16-year-old grandson came from a back bedroom and began firing at police.

They did not return fire. We believe the only other occupant to be shooter.
The shooter then remained inside the home with at least two other occupants.

A Florida high school student is dead after reportedly shooting at officers and holding two people hostage during a standoff with police.
West Melbourne Police Department Capt. Richard Cordeau said during a press conference that multiple shots were fired at the officers, which continued as officers attempted to retreated from the residence.
Martin Lane and Walker Avenue were closed and several nearby homes were evacuated during the incident, Cordeau said.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Thursday, police announced the suspected shooter was found dead inside the home from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gun shot.
