After 12 consecutive Jeopardy! victories that garnered him a whopping total of $411,000, NY bartender Austin Rogers finally suffered defeat on Thursday's episode, getting edged out by a meager $51.
Austin Rogers, a bartender from NY, came in a close second place on the fan-favorite game show after a 12-day run as champion. Only four contestants in the show's history have won more games or more money.
According to Rogers, he and Trebek became rather friendly, and the host even let the contestant call him "dude".
Fans took to Twitter to send him off with. well. dick trees.
For all of the Austin Rogers super fans out there, fear not - the bartender will be returning to the show on November 6 for the Jeopardy! tournament of champions.
During the streak, Rogers won $411,000 - good for fifth best overall on the show.
"I mean, I always wanted validation that I'm smarter than everyone, and now, when in an argument, I can just say "SCOREBOARD!" and point to an imaginary jumbotron", he said on the site.
"I don't really know (how I'll spend the money) other than I want to make sure that I'm all within tax law before doing anything stupid or frivolous", he said.
