India thrash U.S. 22-0 in Sultan of Johor Cup 2017

Indian junior men's hockey team continued its winning streak to maul a hapless US 22-0 to register its third consecutive victory at the seventh Sultan of Johor Cup on Wednesday. The boys who have made India proud made sure that the country registered its second biggest win in worldwide hockey. Today's result was reminiscent of senior team's 24-1 thrashing in the 1932 Los Angeles 1956 Games, India humbled U.S. 16-0. So the big boys are still one up on the young cubs.

In the second quarter, four more goals were scored by India, who were giving game-time to all the 18 squad members. India led 8-0 at half-time but went into overdrive in the second half.

While Harmanjit top-scored for India with five goals, Abhishek followed with four goals while Vishal and Dipreet each sounded the board thrice. India faces Australia in its fourth match on Thursday. The senior team remained unbeaten in their Asia Cup campaign and won the title with 2-1 win over Malaysia in the final on Sunday. They later beat hosts Malaysia 2-1 in another close game.

India turned on the heat in the third quarter as they scored nine goals in 15 minutes which saw the crowd at the stadium get entertained with some sublime finishing by the Indian team. India, on the other hand, will take the win as good preparation for their tough upcoming matches against the likes of Australia and Great Britain.
