A video posted on Facebook Tuesday night appears to show a Gainesville doctor yelling at a patient and then grabbing her daughter's cell phone as she recorded the confrontation.
But that angered the doctor, who stepped into the waiting room to confront her, which was when Stipe's daughter began recording.
"While not an excuse for my behavior, a basic reason for my reaction is that I simply regard my staff as family, and I over-reacted to defend them", he said. "I got seven rooms back there", the doctor said. Stipe told our sister affiliate CBS 4 Gainesville she called Gainesville Police after the doctor grabbed her daughter's phone and "shoved her" when she tried to get it back.
"I want to go home and get in my bed", she replied as he told her to "get the hell out". She said she made an appointment for 6:30 p.m. and by 7:45 she still had not been seen by a doctor and was in "severe pain and throwing up in a trash can".
When Stipe told the doctor that she just wanted to return to her home and wanted her co-pay back, the doctor told her to leave instantly.
"If you go to CareSpot, you're waiting for three hours".
Stipe's video has been viewed over 200,000 times and has more than 3,000 shares.
"Go to the ER and wait nine hours!" he yells at one point.
Stipe said she has spoken to an attorney because Gallogly needed to be held responsible.
A representative from Gainesville After Hours, the clinic where the confrontation happened, declined to comment to WGFL.
The clinic posted a statement from Gallogly on its Facebook page Wednesday afternoon. "I went to the front desk only because after Ms. Stipe received her refund, she refused to leave the office, and continued her abusive behavior towards staff".
In the video, the patient can be heard saying that the office should advise patients that they might not be seen in a timely manner, to which the doctor responded by saying that she had been seen and he had collected a urine sample.
Stipe posted another Facebook status yesterday thanking friends for supporting her. "You know this was uncalled for & for those of you who don't and are being rude and hateful to me and my child". "But please appreciate that the video is but the last minute or two of a very abusive tirade against my office staff by the two women".
Duterte sidelines police in war on illegal drugs
This will also be the second time that President Duterte ordered the PNP to stop all anti-drug operations nationwide. We'll just look for other things to work on, just not drugs for now, " said PNP Director General Ronald Dela Rosa.
