Absentee Voting started this week and registered voters are able start early voting. The 2017 election will be a mail-in ballot election, and county governments will begin mailing ballots to registered voters by October 16.
New Yorkers can check the status of their voter registration and political party affiliation here or by calling 1-866-VOTE-NYC.
Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m.to 7:30 p.m. on November 7.
This year's general election includes the Rochester mayoral election, which places incumbent Mayor Lovely Warren against Republican Tony Micciche, Green Party candidate Alex White, Independent Lori White and James Sheppard, running as an independent. If voters still need to register, residents have until October 30 to visit www.govotecolorado.com to register and receive a ballot through the mail. If you need to request a ballot by mail, the Department of Elections advises applying as early as possible to account for any potential delays in mail delivery.
First-time voters need to register at the Board of Elections office because a hard copy of the signed registration form is required.
Also remember that Virginia law requires voters to present an acceptable photo ID when voting in-person. Voters can also find information about the upcoming election and check their registration status on the site.
