United Nations chief condemns N Korean's missile launch

After New North Korea Missile Test US Says Has Military Options

The secretary-general "will be discussing the situation on the Korean Peninsula with all concerned parties in the margins of the upcoming high level week of the United Nations General Assembly". he added.

The Philippines on Saturday repeated its call on North Korea to stop its "provocations" and instead engage in talks to ease tensions after the rogue state conducted another missile launch in the face of tougher worldwide sanctions.

The emergency Security Council consultations were requested by the U.S. and Japan following North Korea's launch of a ballistic missile on Friday local time, which flew over Japan's Hokkaido.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana recently described North Korea's latest missile launch as "very concerning".

"Our final goal is to establish the equilibrium of real force with the US and make the USA rulers dare not talk about military option", Kim was quoted as saying by the official Korean Central News Agency, during a visit to oversee Friday's missile launch.

The Philippines has urged North Korea to stop its missile tests and head to the negotiation table instead, hours after Pyongyang launched another missile over Japan.

UNITED NATIONS:The UN Security Council condemned "the highly provocative launch of a ballistic missile" by North Korea and expressed commitment to a peaceful, diplomatic and political solution to the crisis.

"Currently the situation on the Korean Peninsula is complex, sensitive and serious".

North Korea previously fired a ballistic missile over Japan on August 29, which also ended up in the Pacific Ocean.

Kim said the "combat efficiency and reliability of Hwasong-12 were thoroughly verified, operation members' capacity for actual war is also very flawless and the work for increasing combat power of Hwasong-12 has been realized", according to KCNA. On Thursday North Korea threatened to "sink Japan" with its nuclear missiles and also to reduce the US mainland "to ashes". "We call upon the DPRK to fulfil its obligations as expressed in UNSC resolutions", it said.

"Our final goal is to establish the equilibrium of real force with the U.S. and make the USA rulers dare not talk about military option", North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was quoted as saying by the state news agency, KCNA.
