PRESIDENT Donald Trump has again highlighted the possibility of USA military action against North Korea, however the rogue state's neighbours in South Korea increasingly think Pyongyang will start a war.
As we reported on Monday, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told an emergency Security Council meeting on Monday that Pyongyang was "begging for war".
The US draft also identified nine ships that have carried out activities prohibited by previous UN resolutions and would authorise any UN member state to stop these vessels on the high seas without their consent and use "all necessary measures" - which in UN language includes force - to carry out an inspection and direct the vessel to a port.
China fought alongside North Korea during the 1950-53 Korean War, in which Chinese leader Mao Zedong lost his eldest son, and Beijing has always been Pyongyang's chief ally and primary trade partner.
It said its test was a "perfect success" and the bomb was created to be mounted on its newly-developed intercontinental ballistic missile. Last year, North Korea conducted its fifth nuclear test on the September 9 anniversary.
Abe, who will meet later in the day with Putin, said before his departure from Japan that "we must make North Korea understand there is no bright future for the country if it pursues the current path".
The White House said both leaders were committed to taking "further action" aimed at "denuclearising" the Korean peninsula.
He pointed to the Iran nuclear deal, which was negotiated successfully by the Obama administration but has looked fragile under Trump, saying "if the U.S. had spent even one fifth of the time and effort on the North Korean issue compared with the Iranian case, then the North Korean nuclear issue could have been resolved".
Rodman added that he loves Trump, who he thanks for bringing him on "The Celebrity Apprentice" - a reality TV show Trump hosted before running for and winning the presidency. "Is it inevitable? Nothing is inevitable", Trump said. This emphatically includes in that process the revival of triangular cooperation with North Korea, reviving the effort to connect Russian Federation and China with South Korea by rail through the North, as well as other economic and political means to assure North Korea of both its security and its economic development. I believe that President Xi agrees with me 100 percent.
"We had a very good phone call".
The statement says both leaders stressed that the global community has condemned North Korea's "provocations".
With previous sanctions resolutions, the U.S. spent weeks and sometimes months negotiating the text with China and then presenting a resolution to the rest of the Security Council for a vote. "There is no sign yet that they will back really tough sanctions".
Xiamen (China), Sep 5 (IANS) The Russian president on Tuesday warned that ramping up military hysteria with North Korea over its nuclear missile test could lead to a global catastrophe and instead advocated for renewed diplomatic efforts, a move that could hamper the US' petition for tighter worldwide sanctions. It has repeatedly spoken out against what it calls the "China responsibility theory" and insists the direct parties - North Korea, South Korea and the United States - hold the key to resolving tensions.
