Tropical Storm Jose forms directly behind Hurricane Irma in Atlantic

The Florida Gators have moved up Saturday's game against Northern Colorado to noon

The peak of the Atlantic hurricane season is September 10.

Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Jose could become a hurricane by Friday.

Jose is the 10th tropical storm of the season.

Jose has 40 miles per hour winds and moving 13 miles per hour west-northwest.

As potentially-catastrophic Category 5 Hurricane Irma continues to strengthen, Tropical Storm Jose has formed further east in the Atlantic. Today, given these forecasts and the intensity of this storm, I have declared a state of emergency for every county in Florida to make certain that state, federal and local governments are able to work together and make sure resources are dispersed to local communities as we get prepared for this storm.

Right now it's expected to track into the middle of the Atlantic, then form into a hurricane.

At this point, the National Hurricane Center is advising interests in the Leeward Islands to monitor the progress of Jose.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles from the center.

Currently, forecasters are paying attention to an area of low pressure on the southeast coast.

"This hurricane has the potential to be a major event for the East Coast".

Both islands are part of the northern Leeward Islands, and are under a hurricane warning as Irma approaches the region.

Jose was located about 1,505 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

The chance of direct impacts from Irma later this week and this weekend is increasing in the Florida Keys and portions of the Florida Peninsula, but forecasters say it is still too early to specify the timing and magnitude of the impacts.

Florida is now preparing for the possibility of Irma.

Given the above average predictions for this year, now might be a good time to make plans for evacuation or stock up on supplies in case a hurricane could travel your way over the next few months.

On Irma's heels is a system the NHC is giving a 90 percent chance of development over five days.
