Suspect in custody following active shooter situation at New Hampshire hospital

A person believed to be involved in the incident at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center has been taken into police custody, New Hampshire officials confirmed Tuesday afternoon.

Police have told people in the area to avoid the hospital.

There was no confirmation of a shooting or injuries at the time of this story's publication.

CBS associate WCAX-TV reports a representative said all specialists got an email from the doctor's facility about a "code silver", instructing them to get out if conceivable and generally to shield set up.

Attorney General Gordon MacDonald says 49-year-old Travis Frink will be arraigned Wednesday on murder charges.

"The facts gathered to this point reveal that the goal of Mr. Frink's visit to the hospital today was to kill his mother", MacDonald told reporters, adding that the crime scene was still being investigated and that more than one shot had been fired.

A "Code Silver" alert was issued over the hospital intercom, urging patients and employees to evacuate the building.

The hospital released a statement on Twitter about the situation that said the local and state police were on-site.

Hospital spokesman Mike Barwell says that Dartmouth-Hitchcock was locked down and that local and state police are on site. More than one shot was sacked, according to MacDonald.

Over 100 members of law enforcement was involved, including Vermont State Police.

MacDonald is asking anyone who has information about the whereabouts of Frank in the past few days, to call Detective Brian Strong with the State Police Major Crimes Scene Unit at 603-223-8568.
