Star Trek: Discovery: Here's a Sneak Peek at the Title Sequence

To promote the show, a "spaceship" created to resemble the show's USS Discovery was flown over New York City on Saturday night.

The iconography of Star Trek is the basis of the main title of Star Trek: Discovery, premiering this evening on CBS.

The ship was actually an illusion put together via LED lights attached to a truss. The truss was then carried through the skies by a Black Hawk helicopter.

Blending various visual elements from Star Trek lore - costumes, phasers, the Vulcan salute, the U.S.S. Discovery itself, and much, much more - the (literally) artful opening titles should make anyone stoked for the franchise's return to the small-screen. Here's where can you watch Star Trek: Discovery both the premiere and subsequent episodes.

"Star Trek: Discovery" blasts off this weekend, and in celebration, so has a real-life USS Discovery. The video shows shades of the Enterprise opening while the music uses well-known cues from The Original Series.

CBS All Access is available on your mobile device, Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast, Fire TV, PS4, Xbox or Windows 10. After the on-air premiere, it will also be available on CBS All Access.
