Spain becomes fourth country to expel North Korean envoy over nuclear program

"The increased moves of the U.S. and its vassal forces to impose sanctions and pressure... will only increase our pace toward the ultimate completion of the state nuclear force", the North's foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement carried by its official KCNA news agency.

The mandate came after North Korea successfully fired a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile over Japan at the beginning of September, in defiance of existing sanctions.

"What they don't want is to see a reunited Korea, a United States ally on the Chinese border", he said.

US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping committed to "maximizing pressure on North Korea", the White House said Monday, amid an escalating crisis over Pyongyang's ballistic and nuclear weapons programs. Xinhua did not directly link the drills to current tension over North Korea.

Pyongyang is not responding to Seoul's call to reclaim the body of a presumed North Korean found in South Korean waters last month.

The new United Nations sanctions include bans on textile imports and the sale of natural gas to North Korea.

On Friday North Korea launched a second missile over Hokkaido showing the world that the missiles can now reach the USA territory of Guam. Pak Chun Il, North Korea's sitting ambassador to the country, was blacklisted by the United Nations on November 30, 2016 in response to Pyongyang's fifth nuclear test that September.

The worldwide community is scrambling to contain an increasingly belligerent Pyongyang, which has conducted its sixth and largest nuclear test and fired long-range missiles over Japan that it says could reach the USA mainland.

As the worldwide community attempts to apply pressure on the regime Pyongyang said the sanctions aimed to "physically exterminate" the country's people, system and government.

The U.S. blustered that it would not rule out "military option" while making absurd assertion that the sanctions are a peaceful solution.

The Chinese and Russian foreign ministers called for a peaceful end to the "vicious cycle" on the Korean peninsula as they met in NY for the UN General Assembly, Beijing said on Tuesday (Sept 19).

Trump will also talk with the leaders of South Korea and Japan.

Ms Bishop attended Mr Trump's brief speech at the UN on Monday where the president endorsed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' plan to reform the UN.
