Penn State's James Franklin on 'icing': 'You will never understand us'

Franklin didn't offer any information on Penn State defensive end Torrence Brown, who was carted off the field against Georgia State after incurring a direct hit to his right knee. And then try to lie about it. After the game, Franklin said his team had its fourth-string defense in and PSU doesn't have a "fourth team field goal block", so he had to call timeout to get situated.

Franklin tried to brush it off by saying he needed time to get the right players on the field, but his dismissive reaction on the sideline tells the real story of what actually happened.

"That had nothing to do with it", Franklin said of preserving a shutout.

When you're up 56 points in the fourth quarter and the other team is just trying to get some points on the board, you don't ice their kicker.

Callers tried to defend the decision but Francesa wasn't having any of it as he continued to get fired up over the "lack of class" by Franklin. "Let the ball go through the uprights, you jerk", Francesa screamed.

"We have a standard of how we do things ... and I want our guys to do that on the football field, and I want them to do that in life". Whether it's the first play of the game or the last play, or whether we're winning or whether we're losing, we're going to fight for every inch on the field, every yard on the field. we're going to fight. You have a bad day, you've still got to go to work in the morning.

"We have a standard of how we do things". It's our job to try to keep them out of the end zone. It's not a lot more than that. "It will be that way today, it will be that way as long as I'm here".

Penn State shutout Georgia State this past Saturday after a timeout iced the kicker.
